Explore the south of France from a Cannes Hotel
The South of France is a region that is very popular with
holidaymakers, mainly due to the climate that it can offer tourists and
the beauty of the countryside. Situated on the Cote d’Azur, Cannes is
one of the most visited destinations in the region and the seaside town
is now seen as one of the most luxurious holiday resorts anywhere in
the world. To cope with demand from tourists that is high throughout
the year there are hundreds of Cannes
hotels that visitors can stay in, which range in price and
features so that every visitor’s needs can be met.
The French city of Cannes is a hub of activity right throughout the
year, no more so than in May when the annual Cannes Film Festival takes
place. The prestigious film festival brings thousands of tourists to
the Mediterranean coastline, as they look to soak up the unmistakeable
atmosphere that is part and parcel of the festival, as well as spotting
one of their favourite actors or directors. The buzz that surrounds the
festival is huge and Cannes’ most famous street, La Croisette
Boulevard, is always packed during the fortnight as visitors splash out
in high end shops and restaurants.
Cannes has developed greatly since it was a small fishing village to
become an exclusive resort, but much of the history of the city can
still be seen today. An adventure holiday to the region is a great way
to explore the tradition and heritage that the area has to offer. You
will need no excuse to venture out into the countryside and explore the
South of France, and Cannes is a great location from which to set up
base and travel around the area in the daytime, whilst still being able
to enjoy the attractions of Cannes and the luxury Cannes hotels at
night.
The city of Cannes itself is home to some stunning architecture that
visitors can find at Le Suquet, where the cobbled streets hark back to
its history. The old town has narrow, winding streets that are typical
of the South of France, and if you make your way to the castle ruins at
the top of the hill you will be treated with an excellent view of the
French Riviera. You can also investigate the Notre-Dame d’Esperance if
you are intrigued by the history and heritage of France, and soak up
the 14th century architecture that makes up the Provencal gothic
church.
Using Cannes as a base from which to explore the surrounding area is a
great way to ensure that you get to visit as many different places as
possible, and you are sure to be able to find a hotel
in Cannes that will suit your individual needs. There is a
wide range of hotels to choose from, including two and three star
hotels that will help you to stay well within your budget, as well as
more luxurious hotels that will set you back a fair amount of money but
will provide you with ultimate comfort for the duration of your stay.
If you are planning an adventure holiday then self-catering
accommodation may be what you are after so that you can make a bright
and early start in the morning and are not tied to having to return to
Cannes for lunch or dinner. You can also choose a hotel that is near to
good transport links, so that if you have hired a car for your holiday
you can get to the main roads quickly and will soon be well on your way
to the attraction of your choice.
One self-catering hotel that may fit the bill is Les Residences du
Soleil, a property that is situated to the north of Cannes in the
city’s suburbs. Visitors will be able to enjoy the three star
accommodation that is on offer and take advantage of the cooking
facilities that are provided as well as complementary parking. The
property includes a seasonal outdoor pool and poolside bar that are
ideal if you are looking to relax in the sunshine, whilst the nearby
Royal Mougins Golf Club will interest golf lovers as well.
If you are looking to enjoy a round of golf during your holiday and
want a real bargain hotel, then the Hotel Stars Antibes is another
option worth considering. One of a number of two star hotels, this
suburban property is located to the north east of Cannes and is ideal
if you plan to head east along the Mediterranean coastline and visit
the historical town of Nice. Prices start from as little as £40 per
night and if you plan to spend little time in your hotel and explore
the South of France then this accommodation will meet your needs.
Your adventures may well take you to nearby Nice, which is less than 20
miles away, and a guided sightseeing tour will help you to explore the
town’s history. You can take in the Greek history of Castle Hill and
enjoy the view as the port stretches out beneath you, and there is
plenty for culture vultures to enjoy as they can visit the Matisse
Museum and Franciscan Monastery. There are also Roman ruins for
visitors to make their way through and Nice’s Russian church that was
built under the last Tsar is a real point of interest.
A little closer to Cannes is Antibes, which you can visit as part of a
day in Provence and uncover the area with a scenic tour. As part of a
day trip you can also visit Grasse, which is located to the north of
Cannes, and enjoy the aromas of the Fragonard perfume factory. A
further visit to the medieval village of Gourdon and its castle and
your adventure will be complete, leaving you to return to Cannes and
its attractions. There is certainly plenty of culture to investigate,
and the French city of Cannes can provide a base from which you can
enjoy a vast variety of different trips.
