Langham Place exhibits Chinese art
7/29/2010 5:00:00 PM
Langham
Place hotel has partnered with the China Digital Art Association and
Microwave to profile the works of six leading Chinese animation artists.
The exhibition, Art in Residence – Chinese Ingenuity in the Digital Age,
illustrates the unique style, culture and wit of China’s fast evolving
animation scene. Each piece presents a specific view on the concept of
ingenuity in China. The idea of the world, China and self are also very
prevalent.
General manager Shaun Campbell says: “I find each of the short films
amazing. They provide fascinating insights into what makes China tick.
The films are a lot of fun but also very meaningful and I feel very
proud to be able to display this exhibition at the hotel.”
The exhibition is shown on a 140” built-in movie screen at the hotel’s
bar Portal – Work & Play as well as on a dedicated channel (2) in
all guest rooms and inside eight of the hotel’s guest elevators.
The artists include Bu Hua (art director of the Future Hall at the
current Shanghai Expo), Sun Xun, Pi Sam, Miao Xiaochun, Wu Junyong and
Zhang Xiaotao.
General public can view the exhibition at Portal – Work & Play from
8:00am – 1:30am daily. This exhibition will run until 30 January 2011.
Art in Residence – Chinese Ingenuity in the Digital Age is the latest in
Langham Place hotel’s Art in Residence exhibition series, which aims to
encourage awareness of China’s culture and art scene while creating
thought provoking experiences.
