Eaton Hotel gets Green Globe benchmarked

14 Jan 10 (TravMedia.com): Eaton Hotel Hong Kong has achieved the prestigious Green Globe Benchmark Bronze award under the Green Globe’s Benchmarking programme managed by EC3 Global. The recent award recognises Eaton Hotel Hong Kong’s commitment to transparent and credible reporting of its environmental and social performance by comparing its current performance against international best practice standards across the Travel and Tourism Industry.
In achieving Benchmarked Bronze status, Eaton Hotel Hong Kong applied EarthCheck™ indicators to benchmark energy, water consumption, waste sent to landfill, paper products, chemicals and community commitment; along with an integrated environmental and social policy.
Of of nine areas assessed, Eaton Hotel Hong Kong achieved Best Practice ratings in five areas these being energy consumption, portable water consumption, water savings rating, community contributions and pesticide products ratings. The achievement reiterates the Eaton Hotel Hong Kong’s commitment to continual improvement and behavorial change amongst its colleagues whilst maximising cost savings.

As of August 2009 the hotel employed a full time Environmental Manager responsible for monitoring environmental and social performance, maintaining operational records, training colleagues, conducting 3rd party benchmarking and monitoring certification commitments.
